"Thank you for your kind remembrance. Have you been able to find a place you could be comfortable during the last three weeks? How does your son stand it; it has been all that a well person could stand—how much for those that are in ill health.
How nice it seems to have it cooler yesterday, was a day of calamity to many—the thunder and lightning was very severe—it struck a post to our piazza ploughed the ground for 2 rods to a tree slivered the posts and ran on the water pipes but thankfully had no one was injured.
