Dear Drummond,
It has been a while that you have received a token of life from us. To say that we think of you every day would not be sincere. Lately, memories of you have been replaced by your Prime Minister, Theresa May.
But before I address the current situation of the federation of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, Vera and I would like to know how you are coping with the burden of aging in these times.
Juliet has let us know that you have moved to a care facility. Are you being well looked after? This reminds me of John Mortimer’s remark that, as one ages, there comes a moment when you can no longer put on your own socks. I imagine they help you put your socks on every morning.
Are there other residents at the care center who are pleasant to interact with and with whom you can discuss political issues—such as the relationship between the UK and the EU, or between the US and China, Iran, or Saudi Arabia?
Do you still regularly play bridge and/or watch television?
These questions show that we are interested in your well-being. We would appreciate receiving an update from you.
And now my simple, or rather over simplified solution for Brexit: London and Brussels to change its names. It clears the name of Brussel's of its EU-wrong doings. Jokes aside: the situation is serious enough to support TM’s proposal, in the absence of any other proposal for an orderly departure from the EU. The referendum of 23 June 2016 has divided the country, and regardless of the outcome of any potential second referendum, the country will not be united.I t did take a Falkland war to unite the country behind M.Thatcher. Perhaps Theresa May, as wartime leader, can unite the country if Spain invades Gibraltar.
Through exaggeration, cartoons create a more powerful effect and a more intense expression of the story's essence.
Well take good care of yourself, love from us both Vera & Aadje
