Dear Aadje,
I am so happy to hear from you thus my instant response. I was getting very worried as I sent you a couple of email for which I did not receive a response, which is unlikely of you. Vera's condition is sad indeed and have often wondered how are coping with it, and how will you in the future. May and I think of both of you very
often.
As for Lebanon's SWOT analysis, I will offer you my brief analysis:
S:
The people, entrepreneurial, well educated, resilient. The country is beautiful, great weather, excellent educational and health systems. Freedom of speech. А multi-religious democracy.
W.
Corrupt and weak governance and lack of accountability. Failing economy and high inflation. Banking system under serious threat. Judiciary compromised. Our geography has placed us within a very bad neighborhood. Non state actors (Hezbollah) has hijacked the country, etc....
O:
Our Parliamentarian elections are taking place on May 15 which hopefully will usher in new and honest members. If the new Cabinet can implement the required reforms, fresh funds will flow in from the IMF and other European countries to support the badly needed infra-structure and other vital projects. If we can agree with the Israelis our sea boarders to the south, Lebanon can start extracting and eventually selling its massive gas reserves.
T:
That the election results prove negative, that Iran through Hizballah tighten their grip on Lebanon, that the Government is unable to agree and implement the much needed reforms.
