Dear Ursula & Stuart,
Thank you for your Christmas card with a Happy Christmas wish. Your card depicts an elk and snowflakes by a 11/2 year-old artist. Extraordinary. I predict a great artistic future for her. Lovely! Before I continue my writing, let me apologise for not paying attention to Ursula's 70th birthday. I want to make up for this negligence by enclosing a small present. Stuart did send Vera a birthday card, which she greatly appreciated. She will answer you separately about the celebration of her 70th birthday. At year-end, it makes sense to evaluate the past year. Those who wished us a Happy New Year in December 2013, had their wishes come true. During the month of January, we had a very pleasant holiday in Curacao, Caribbean. The motivation to go to Curacao was Vera's psoriasis. Sunbathing and swimming in the sea helped cure the illness. The good news is that it didn't recur. Floris and his Else Marie have three adorable daughters, our granddaughters. They had On November 9th Natasja (29) has given birth to a baby-daughter, our 4th granddaughter. Mikki is her Christian name.. Reinoud (41 years) is the father of Mikki. They bought a house in Noordwijk - Binnen. Like his brother Floris, Reinoud and Natasja have decided not to marry. I begin to think that our upbringing of our sons has had some shortcomings. Another explanation could be that the girls these days feel themselves less dependent on their partners. They are a happy couple, so we do not complain. It is their lives.
My mother Albertine, 97 years old. She is too old. Visiting her in her care home is a chore. On 25th December, we will visit her. She is happy when we are with her. Her conversation with us is limited. Many things she cannot remember. I am the chosen one of the three sons to take care of her administration. Her house has been sold, and ownership of the house will be passed on to the buyer on 16th January 2015. That is a relief.
I have not commented on the political situation on the continent versus Great Britain. 2015 will be an interesting year.
By the way, our Amsterdam neighbours, on the other side, have also submitted a claim for damages to their building due to the restoration of our foundation: 4 years afterward! Never a dull moment in Amsterdam

POSTCARD
Maybe I fancy a skating trip of about 20 kilometers with my granddaughters of course, weather permitting. The two eldest granddaughters have accepted the invitation to accompany Vera and me to a ballet performance of Cinderella on 29 Dec 2014

SEASON GREETINGS
We do not expect a white Christmas Amsterdam has a number of ice rinks. The three granddaughters (9, 8 & 6 ) love skating! Hopefully, there will be a very cold stint so that lakes and canals will be frozen this winter.Language
