Letter from Enrico Segre Milano , 29 April 1992 Dear Adrian, I hope that Vera, you and your children are all in a good health and in fine shape. Maria and I have been recently in Pianello, where we spent 10 days during the Easter period. The weather was good and it didn't rain. We left Pianello unwillingly because most of the bushes and trees were in bloom. The rhododendron near our house was full of deep red flowers. The Japanese camellia still has many flowers and several azaleas have started to bloom. A fantastic combination of colours. Lake Como was plowed by dozens of sailboats due to a number of regattas that took place on the Saturday and Sunday after Easter. Not far were the surfers who sailed between Cremia and D?? Life was everywhere. Maria and I left Pianello because on first of May Chiara, our granddaughter almost 10 year old granddaughter will have her first communion in two days next Tuesday. There is no important news from Pianello. Life goes on quietly as usual. Mr Hunger is in good health and is often busy with her incoming or outgoing guests. I write you this letter because, if I do recall, we have the pleasure of having you with us also this summer. In this context, I would like to inform you about our holiday schedule, because there is a good chance that we will not be in Pianello on the day of your arrival. Therefore, I will have to give instructions to Milietta (or Carletto, her father) to ensure that everything is in order upon arrival and that the main gate is open. From June 7 to June 14, Maria and I will go on a cruise to the Greek Islands with my brother-in-law from Toronto. We are going to visit Knossos, if I remember correctly you were there a few years ago. A few days after returning home we leave for Sardinia on June 20 with 6-year-old Anna. We will stay in Palau (northern part of Sardinia) until July 13th. After a few days in Milano we arrive in Pianello. This will be around July 16/18. I request that you inform me, possibly within the month of May, of the day on which you intend to arrive in Pianello, so that Carletto has the main gate open, the keys to the house under the doormat, the hot water heating on and the gas bottle tap open. Below I list a number of telephone numbers that may be useful if we are not there. I hope all is well with you and await your message as soon as it suits you. Kind regards, Enrico telephone numbers of Kootje Hunger, Miliëtta, Carletto etc
