Dear Adriaan + Vera
You surprise gift of bulbs arrived a couple of days ago. Very many thanks indeed for a very unnecessary but much appreciated present, along with the accompanying sentiments of an friendship.
So far, the weather has precluded us from planting the bulbs, but the rain must stop sometime soon, though on this November 11th Remembrance day, we cannot but remember indeed the shocking weather conditions that the Allies armies had to endure int he world war 1 trench war fare (as well, of course the German troops) some of the sites of which Ursula, Alastair an I visited in the spring this year.
We hope that you will be thinking soon of your year-end festivities, doubtless filled with the noise and chatter of your grandchildren; anything like that has to be a whole lot better than thinking about boring things like world affairs and banking problems.
Love to you both from Ursula and me, Stuart.
