150726a c1960–70s Hineri Iwatsu Rare Colourway Japanese Art Glass Dish

Description
A collectable vintage Japanese art glass bowl by Iwatsu, from the Hineri range, likely dating from the late 1960s to 1970s. Hineri glass formed part of Japan’s post war export design movement, when makers created bold sculptural glass for international modern interiors. This example is especially appealing, with both the original 'Hineri Made In Japan' label and hand made paper label still present, which is rarely found intact.
The bowl combines several decorative techniques, including cased glass, pulled organic shaping, opalescent glass, iridescent surface sheen, and green, grey, and black swirled detail. The colourway appears less commonly seen than many brighter or earth toned examples, adding to its decorative and collector appeal.
