Description

Recycle, Reuse, ReLove! Please make an offer via the ‘Questions’ panel below Thank you for your support of a purely NZ-owned small business Antique English porcelain platter in the classic Frog pattern by Spode, Stoke-on-Trent, England. This richly coloured underglaze transferware with hand-coloured red, blue and gilt details reflects a design first produced around 1821 and popular through the 1820s and 1830s. The Frog pattern was used on stone china and porcelain and is recorded in early Spode pattern books; examples were even supplied for King George IV’s coronation banquet in 1821. The impressed mark “SPODES A W & SONS” on the base suggests early 19th century manufacture.
