Produced by Stavangerflint in Norway between 1956 and 1962, these 'Palett' espresso cups and saucers reflect the optimism of postwar Scandinavian design. The factory began production in 1949 and quickly became an important Norwegian ceramics manufacturer, exporting internationally. Palett, decoration number 554, was produced with cups in six contrasting colours, combining glossy black, pastel interiors and gold detailing. Often described by collectors as Harlequin, the pattern has become a distinctive example of 1950s Norwegian tableware design.

C O N D I T I O N:
No obvious chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the photographs. All four saucers carry the 'Stavangerflint Norway' factory mark, and one cup retains its original 'Stavangerflint Norway' foil label. Good period condition with light surface wear and some age appropriate wear to the gold detailing. There are small irregularities and imperfections from the original manufacturing process.
