A charming vintage child's food pusher crafted in solid sterling silver by Barker Brothers Silver Ltd of Birmingham, England. The clearly struck hallmarks comprise the B.B.S.Ld maker's mark, Birmingham anchor, lion passant for sterling silver, and date letter R for 1941, placing it in the George VI period. Designed to help a young child push food onto a spoon or fork, food pushers were commonly included in traditional christening and nursery cutlery sets. This example has an elegant late Art Deco influenced handle with stepped linear borders and a shaped terminal.
