An amazing Murano art glass light shade produced in the scavo technique, likely mid to late 20th century. Scavo is a specialised finish developed in Venice to replicate the weathered, iridescent surface of ancient excavated glass. This example features applied chain link decoration, a motif used across several Murano workshops including Cenedese, Seguso, Barbini and Vetri Soffiati. Pieces of this type were typically produced for high end lighting and decorative interiors, combining classical inspiration with modern Italian design. Unsigned, as is common with Murano glass, but a strong example of the style and technique.
