A fabulous vintage Mid-Century atomic hat and coat rack, crafted in New Zealand circa 1970. The design features a tall white painted tubular metal frame with rounded wooden ball finials, giving it the playful Space Age look popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The upper section has multiple hooks for coats, hats, bags or scarves, with two longer lower arms and a stable looped metal base. This style is strongly associated with atomic and Sputnik-influenced interiors, where practical household pieces were given sculptural, modernist forms. A fun and highly decorative retro piece, ideal for an entranceway, bedroom, studio, retail display or Mid-Century styled interior.
