A compact American 8-day mantel clock made by the Ansonia Clock Company, dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. This example features a warm stained wooden case with a rounded top, a brass bezel, and a classic white enamel dial marked Ansonia. The form echoes the small carriage-style clocks produced for domestic use during this era, valued for their reliability and straightforward design. Ansonia was one of the leading American clockmakers of the period, well known for producing quality spring-driven clocks in a wide range of styles. C O N D I T I O N:
Works and keeps good time. The wooden case is in excellent condition with only light age-related wear. The metal carrying handle shows some wear. There are remnants of an old supplier label on the underside, now mostly unreadable.
