First edition of For Special Services by John Gardner, published in 1982 by Jonathan Cape in association with Hodder and Stoughton, London. This is Gardner’s first James Bond novel, written under licence from the Ian Fleming estate, marking the revival of the Bond literary franchise in the 1980s. The striking dust jacket artwork is by Bill Botten and has become one of the more recognisable modern Bond covers. Printed in Great Britain by Butler and Tanner Ltd.
