A delicately handpainted antique Indian papier-mâché lidded dish, showcasing traditional Indo-Persian inspired motifs in gold on a black and burnt umber ground. This type of decorative ware was produced in regions such as Kashmir during the late 19th to early 20th centuries, often used for trinkets or ceremonial storage. A tactile and visually rich object with clear signs of age.
M E A S U R E S:
Height: 7 cm
Diameter: 12 cm
C O N D I T I O N:
Fair condition. Age-related wear including surface losses, and splitting to papier-mâché. Structural integrity remains sound, and it displays well. This would have had a little knob on the top, which is now missing.
