Description

MID–CENT–MAD Recycle, Reuse, ReLove! Please make an offer via the ‘Questions’ panel below Thank you for your support of a purely NZ-owned small business Striking and highly collectable vintage Bitossi ceramic vase, designed by renowned Italian ceramicist Aldo Londi and produced during the 1960s–70s by Bitossi Ceramiche in Montelupo, Italy. This large, beautifully rounded form features the Spagnolo pattern – a complex hand-impressed design of interlocking floral and diamond motifs, rendered in vivid cobalt and turquoise glazes. This technique, paired with the highly tactile surface and intense glaze saturation, places the piece firmly within the iconic Rimini Blu tradition of Bitossi’s mid-century studio work. This vase is unsigned, as was typical for this design during its production period, but it is fully consistent in form, technique, and decorative language with authenticated Bitossi Spagnolo pieces. The base is concave, a detail that helps distinguish original Bitossi works from common reproductions (note: many listings online are inauthentic). A true statement piece and an outstanding example of Italian modernist design. [Note: This auction is for the large vase only - see my other auction for the smaller vase] M E A S U R E S : Height: 26 cm Diameter at widest point: 15 cm C O N D I T I O N : Excellent vintage condition.
