Description: Elaborate silver (maker unknown) hinged card case.
Design of raised flowers with center motif of what appears to be a state capital (possibly Illinois) with dome. Imitation leather box with wine plush interior.
Size: (box) 4x3 inches, calling card case size, 3½x2½ inches.
History of Object: Calling card case of Mary Josephine Smith, who settled in Alameda in the 1890's, coming from Chicago, Illinois. She was the sister of Lura Smith, an active china painter and teacher of the subject.
