History: Information entitled Chipman Papers Volume I & II. The material consists of copies of Deeds and other sources concerning the sale of property by W.W. Chipman co-founder of the City of Alameda, in the City of Alameda. Also has correspondence. Volume II has an index of subject matter. Information valuable since it concerns the founding of the City and chronicles events prior to 1869 when Alameda established its first newspaper.
