No. 17.11.11 Subject Category: Household, decorative Date or Period: circa 1930 Object: Vase Description: A hand painted pottery vase with floral and leaf design that has pseudo-self handles that appear to be cast elephant heads. The floral background is reddish orange, shading to yellow and the unpainted segments of the vase resemble satsuma oranges. Japanese markings appear on the base. The vase appears to be from the Japanese Meiji era (1868-1912). Size: H-12 1/2” History of Object: The vase is from the Charles Martin residence at 1419 Mound Street, Alameda, although it may have belonged to the previous homeowner, Cora Lessig.
