Description: Luncheon set consisting of 4 napkins & matching tablecloth. Orange-gold heavy linen with hand blocked design (pseudo Indian elephant in circular medallion). Napkins & tablecloth with fringed hems.
History of Object: Table linen (luncheon set) hand decorated by Maude E. Fischer Baker, daughter of Charles F. Fischer, stepson of Denis Straub. Mr. Fischer was a plumbing contractor. He married Agnes Thomsen and had two daughters, Maude E. & Edna Margaret. Maude studied art design at the S.F. Art Institute, San Francisco. As an art student she worked on murals (private dining-room) in the then new "Mark Hopkins Hotel," San Francisco (opened Dec., 1926).
