It has hand painted multi-colored flowers on a luster background. The porcelain is signed "Jorgensen.... Czechoslovakia". Size: L-7X W-4 inches. THOMAS P. S. JORGENSON FINE CHINA PAINTER AND TEACHER-SPECIALTY ABALONE SHELL FINISH. Born 1879 in Denmark arriving Oakland in 1906. He later established his china painting studio in Alameda where he also taught china painting. Students finest work were allowed to carry his name. The iridescent pearl-like finish was his trademark along with highly detailed painting. An up scale Oakland jewelry offered his items to the public for many years. In later years San Francisco's finest retail store GUMPS also retailed his works. Undecorated pieces were imported from Germany, Austria and France these are called BLANKS. Vases and serving pieces being the rarest. Over time the most sort after pattern is a petite pink rose a full dinner service for 12 selling upwards of $1,200.00 plus serving pieces. Being from the Bay Area his works are not generally known on the east coast but still maintain huge popularity on the west coast passing on from one generation to the next. The majority of items carried very fine floral patterns of all colors and flowers. His Pine Cone pattern diverged from this and is still highly desirable. On occasion an ART DECO style will be found and they are also rare. AS TO CARE NEVER EVER, EVER CLEAN JORGENSON IN A DISHWASHER. HAND WASH ONLY.
