History of Object: Folders found in the attic of City Hall in the 1990s. Documents in these folders pertain to alternative plans for a Bay Bridge.
A. Reflects efforts to redirect the efforts for the Bay Bridge to come via Alameda, instead of direct to Oakland. City Manager, C.E. Hickok, Mayor, Victor Schaeffer. Includes worried letter, Dec. 2, 1930, by Lochiel M. King, 1339 Grove Street, and others, and statistics of passengers on ferries.
B. Mostly newspaper clippings about the proposed Bay Bridge, found originally in a folder labeled SF Bay Bridge - Goat Island'. Includes an old folder cover stating S. F. Bay Bridge Hearing, July 28, 1930. San Francisco Bay Bridge Commission, loaned to George Noble [and others]. Includes letters to City Manager Hickok from the Alameda Chamber of Commerce, the California Railroad Commission, the Oakland Real Estate Board, and invitations to Hickok to attend meetings.
