History of Object: Account book of T. W. Leydecker. Mr. Leydecker had wells located behind his home at 925 Santa Clara Avenue (erected 1885 and still standing-1985) that could produce a sufficient amount of water that he was able to supply neighbors adjoining his property with water. From this beginning he established his own water company called "T. W. Leydecker's Alameda Artesian Water Works". Mr. Leydecker was a City Trustee from 1893 to 1897, and served as Post Master of Alameda.
