L 41-1/2" HISTORY OF OBJECTS: LARGE COPPER BOILER AND WOODEN PADDLE USED BY ANDREW HYNES AND CO-WORKERS TO HEAT MOLASSES AND OTHER INGREDIENTS DURING PREPARATION OF CARMEL CORN AT NEPTUNE BEACH, CALIFORNIA. MR HYNES OPERATED SEVERAL CONCESSIONS AT NEPTUNE BEACH. THE BOILER AND PADDLE WERE PRESENTED TO THE DONOR BY MR HYNES, WHO EMPLOYED GEORGE FILIPELLI FOR MANY YEARS. Confection Equipment This boiler was made by S. Zeitler Copper Works in Oakland. Andrew Hynes and his employees used the boiler and wooden paddle to heat and mix molasses and other ingredients for caramel corn. Mr Hynes operated several other concessions at Neptune Beach, including the Monkey Speedway.
