Object: Four Brass spikes
Description: There are four brass seven inch spikes, mounted by wire on to a piece of wood that is six inches by eight and quarter inches. The spikes are held in place by copper wires.
History Of Object: These brass spikes were hand forged and found by Mr. David and his son Stanley Noren. They were taken out of the remnants of an old hull buried at the foot of St. Charles Street in the Estuary. This was evidently an old sailing ship that used to winter in the estuary. There is no way to identify the ship but it must be very old.

THESE BRASS SPIKES WERE HAND FORGED AND FOUND BY MR. DAVID AND HIS SON STANLEY NOREN OF I814 MORELAND DRIVE. THEY WERE TAKEN OUT OF THE REMANENTS OF AN OLD HULL BURIED AT THE FOOT OF ST. CHARLES STREET IN THE ESTUARY. THIS WAS EVIDENTLY AN OLD SAILING SHIP THAT USED TO WINTER IN THE ESTUARY. I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY WAY TO IDENTIFY THE SHIP BUT MUST BE VERY OLD. DONATED TO THE ALAMEDA HISTORICAL SOCIETY FEB. 1954.
