Description: Wallpaper samples, all wrapped in plastic, with transparent sticky tape sides, and all with information on a typed card.
Some of the typed labels identify rooms or usage:
A: "Frieze wallpaper", gold mica on a pale yellow background stylized acanthus leaf motif, with roman twist border.
B: "Ceiling wallpaper", Stylized floral and leaf pattern in pale green accentuated with gold.;
C: "Ceiling paper, Signed: Bridge & Sons", mandala style wall paper of gold and silver on a pale beige background;
D: "Wallpaper", of grey and gold floral patterns on a beige background;
E: "Flocked paper, Reception Hall", smaller size sample of brick-red and lemon-yellow stripes creating a woven-fabric pattern.
F: smaller section of B
G: smaller section of D.
Sizes: A-D: approx. L 38 x W 20. E: L 16 1/2 x W 12 inches.
History: Wallpaper samples from 1525 Lafayette Street, a Queen Anne residence erected 1887, for Henry Hunter, an employee of the San Francisco U.S. Mint. The samples were found in the attic rolled in a newspaper dated 1891.
The typed cards suggest a donation before 1972.
