5/10/2021 MvL: text on back of plate: --- First Presbyterian Church, Alameda was organized on November 5, 1865, with twelve charter members. Rey, F. L, Nash, who arrived in San Francisco from New York, served as the first permanent minister and was installed April 18, 1867. The first church building was erected at the corner of Central and Versailles. The present edifice was completed and dedicated on Easter Sunday, April 3, 1904, under the ministry of Rev. Frank S, Brugh. The sanctuary, beautiful with its memorial stained glass windows, is considered one of the most attractive church edifices in the San Francisco Bay area. It was designed by Architect Henry H. Moyers and built by Mr. A. J. Burgner, for many years an Elder of the church, As the church has grown in numbers, new organizations have been added, and outstanding leaderg of the community have been included in its membership. It has continued to grow and expand until it now occupies a leading place in the San Francisco Presbytery and among the churches of the San Francisco Bay area. --- WORLD WIDE ART STUDIOS COVINGTON TENN.
