No. 82.61.1 Subject Category: Architects Date or Period: C. 1894 Object: Typewriter & case Description: Knob operated typewriter (without keys) on nickel plated frame with raised lettering stating "Merritt Typewriter" (manufacturer's trade name). The nickel plated paper rest has incised lettering stating "United States Pat. Feb. 11, 1890." The machine is attached to a wooden base (maple) and has a matching oblong (removable) cover (same wood & varnish finish). The wooden base has incised serial numbers "6648." Size: (base) L-6 x W-12¼ inches. H-5¼ inches. History of Object: Typewriter of H. H. Meyers (1894) noted resident Alameda architect. The late Mr. Meyers designed such buildings as the Twin Towers, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church, Posey Tube entrance, Veteran's Building, etc. Acquired from: Jeanette Meyers (daughter of H. H.
