A. Two-drawer spool cabinet in the Eastlake style of American manufacture. The top drawer has cardboard dividers containing cotton with supporting egg specimens. Both drawers have bale handles.

History of Object: A thread cabinet from an old dry goods store that was used to house a collection of bird eggs gathered by the brothers George and Charles Loring. Charles A. Loring settled in Alameda as early as 1901. The family was originally from Concord. This egg collection was originally donated to the museum in the 1950's, but it had never been cataloged.
