History of Object: Clipping of an article published in the Alameda Sun, by Dennis Evanosky, president of the Alameda Museum and editor of the Sun, describing the political career and impact on Alameda of Edwin Baird Mastick (1824-1901), and the family history of Baird and his wife Lucretia Mary Wood (also 1824-1901), who moved their family to Alameda in 1864, and lived on a large estate in the West End. Edwin served on the Board of Trustees of Alameda from 1878 to 1893, and was president of that Board from 1883 to 1893. Business partner and later son-in-law Frank Otis would eventually become Mayor.
