Acc. No. 99.530.1 Category: Furniture Date: circa 1870's Object: Chair, Gentlemen Description: Renaissance revival style gentleman's chair, American, with walnut frame. Crest rail has decorative designs which appear to be hand carved. Front legs are cabriolet and terminate in original brass casters. Presently upholstered in modern olive colored velvet. Size: H 42 x 24 W x 27 W inches. History: Gentleman's chair to a parlor set originally owned by the Sylvester parents of Mrs. Benjamin Lamborn. The chair was removed from the Sylvester home in San Francisco following the 1906 earthquake. Their home was badly damaged and belongings were moved and brought to their daughter's home at 1428 Morton Street where it remained for over 50 years. Donor: Ben Lamborn Date: October 9, 1999. 2007 - reupholstered floral design on greenish gold background.
