Description: Scrapbook pages bearing illustrated newspaper clippings plus two photographs featuring USMC Pfc. Harold Gonsalves of Alameda. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously on April 15, 1945, after dying in the Battle of Okinawa.

History of Object: Private Gonsalves was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism during the Battle of Okinawa; he threw himself on a live grenade to save the lives of his comrades.
