Turned stretcher & front posts supporting wooden arms. Size: H-44 x W-27 1/2 inches. Seat depth 17 1/2 x W-21 inches. History of Object: Porch rocker from the Adolph Schander family. They came to Alameda on Oct. 31, 1899, residing at 2305 Buena Vista Avenue for many years. Mr. Schander was a veteran of the Civil War and died in Alameda on March 29, 1906. The rocker came from the estate of his daughter, Rachel (died 5-2-1981), longtime employee of the Pacific Telephone Company. (see book 82.1.7) for further information on the schander family).
