Description: Untooled, dark brown leather satchel, with folders and loose papers. Satchel has a flap, which could be closed with a metal locking mechanism, and with a strap with buckle - now broken. The satchel is open on the side. Inside are a number of tan letter-size file folders, loose notes and envelopes, and a loose-leaf binder of black buckram, with documents. The earliest papers are dated 1945, the latest 1962.

History of Object: Satchel with papers and a contract of the Alameda Workers' Association, the union organized at the California Packing Corporation, Plant No. 48, Buena Vista and Sherman Streets, later absorbed by Del Monte Co., and now commonly known as the 'Del Monte Factory'. The donor was president of the union for many years.
