Description: Beaded purse with decorative steel beads in shades of silver accentuated with gold. Gold plated frame & chain. Gold satin lining. Of French manufacture.
Size: L-(from frame to fringe) 9 inches. W-5 inches.
History of Object: Purse that belonged to Mrs. Fred Linderman (nee Mary Francis Thorton). Born San Francisco 1870, came to Alameda about 1875, she was the daughter of Abel & Mary Frances (Watson) Thorton, pioneers of the East End. Mr. Thorton owned and farmed what is now known as Liberty Avenue. She married Fred Linderman, also of pioneer Alameda stock.
