No. 01.66.5 Subject: Household Date or Period: circa 1885 Object: Desk, Lap Description: Box fabricated from Walnut with ornate inlaid top and brass plaque for engrave initials surrounded by inlay of stylized flowers and leaves accentuated with Mother of Pearl on an imitation ivory background. Decorative border on lid has imitation incised ebony panels of Mother of Pearl. Interior has plush writing surface and divisions for pens and ink bottles and is grained to appear as Rosewood. Size: L9-1/2” x W13 x H 5-1/2”. History: Lap desk that belonged to Amanda Sylvester Lamborn, wife of Benjamin Lamborn, early City Clerk of Alameda. Acquired From: Benjamin Lamborn Date: 3/31/01
