Description: staple-bound booklets of tan-colored paper with tan colored construction paper cover, featuring an illustration of a football player with helmet and football. Title ' A.C.A.C Football Program 1939 Season, Alameda High.
A. cover printing is more sepia-colored, has additions made with a blue fountain pen - drawn number 37 on the player's jersey, and 'Thompson Dust Bowl', and Jim Sullivan on the back; B. cover printing is darker, has number 19 on the cover in black pen, and 'James Sullivan' in pencil on the back.
In A, a number of the photos that were printed without caption have handwritten captions added; in B. has 1940 in pencil at the top of the scorecard.
Size: L 9 1/2 x W 6 1/4 inches.
History of Objects: Programs for the 1939 Alameda High School Football season, created by students, with many illustrations and small photos of the players, a completed scorecard, and advertisements of businesses of the period who sponsored the team. B has been used in the 1940 season. The programs were owned by team member James Sullivan, who played Right End in the 1939 season.
