No. 99.44.1 Subject Category: Clothing Date or Period: circa 1900's Object: Dress Description: One piece full length dress of white colored lawn with central panel in a floral motif of machine embroidery. Sleeves are three-quarter length. Back of the dress has mother of pearl buttons and metal hook and eyes. It is gathered at the shoulders in individual pleats. No manufacturers label. History of Object: Dress worn by the late Helen Norton, member of an early family of the City. Miss Norton was employed for many years by the Alameda Unified School District as a teacher and, later, Principal of Franklin School. Donor: June Hanley Donated: February 6, 1999
