Description: Cast iron mail box with hinged slot cover and top. Raised lettering on both covers state "Private," & "Post Box." Decorative motif of American eagle with outstretched wings surrounded by pierced stars. Box signed in incised lettering "J.F.W., Chicago."

History of Object: Cast iron mailbox removed from 1830 San Jose Avenue, erected 1891.
