No. 21.103.1 Subject Category: Businesses of Alameda Date or Period: c. 1922-1930 Object: Box Description: Oblong jewelry box of blue marbleized cardboard outside, with a printed decoration along the top edge of the convex lid. Underside has imprinted 'Germany'. Inside, the bottom half is covered with velvet plush, the top with ivory sating, on which is printed 'Hunt & Kamber, Watchmakers & Jewelers, 1544 Park St., Alameda, Calif. Size: L 4 x W 2 inches. History of Object: Jewelry box of Hunt & Kamber, Park Street, a business which was founded between 1915 and 1922. By 1933 Mr E. I. Hunt was managing the business alone, and by 1934 he had moved to 1436 Park Street, which stayed a watch business until around 2001, when it became part of the restaurant on the corner. 1544 Park Street currently is home to the 'Bead Inspirations' bead and jewelry store.
