No. 19.26.1 Subject Category: Furniture Date or Period: ca. 1860's Object: Chair, gentleman's Description: An armed gentleman's chair of mahogany with faded red velvet fabric (not) original to the chair. The interior arms and the back are tufted. Two front legs, partial arms, and the balloon back are carved. The balloon back frame is crowned with a cartouche in the Renaissance-Revival style. Size: H-46 in.; W-17.5 in. and seat: 21 x 19 inches. History of Object: A modern replica balloon-back gentleman's chair owned by Dr. Wm. and Mrs. Grace M. Lum, 1200 San Antonio Ave.. This residence was erected 1909-1910. (The Lum School in Alameda was named after Donald D. Lum, a son of Dr. Wm. and Mrs. Grace Lum.) Acquired from: The Lum family of Alameda. Date: 05/25/19
