A. Jewel box covered in light brown colored leather with hand painted lid depicting a bird perched on a branch containing flowers & leaves. Interior of box is satin lined (pale green silk) that is button tufted (both lid & removable tray).
B. Printed called card, inscribed in ink "A Merrie Christmas & very many of them from Samuel Haslett, to his daughter in law-elect, Christmas, 1886."

History of Object: Christmas gift to Harriet Holmes from Samuel Haslett, 1886. Miss Holmes married Mr. Haslett's son Samuel M. Haslett in 1887.
