Acc. No. 13.3.2 Subject Category: Furniture, doctor’s Date or Period: circa 1900 Object: Chair, reception, or hall Description: An Art Nouveau-style reception chair of American manufacture. It appears to be made of birch and mahogany veneer, the front legs terminate in Chippendale-style claw feet, and the stretcher and rungs attached to the legs are lathe turned. The chair back has a splat of Art Nouveau-style inlay of stylized flowers that have been tinted. The chair crest includes a decorative carving surrounded with a handgrip for lifting the chair. The underside of the chair seat has a remnant of a paper label that reads, "Philadelphia.''
