An inventory list has been added (2021). History of Object: Petitions to the council or City Planning Commission to redistrict (i.e. to reclassify, or rezone), and related correspondence. In accordance with a City Ordinance, if 25% of the neighboring property owners agreed, the council would approve. Thus petitioners would be forced to ask their neighbors for signatures. Majority are requests for splitting houses into flats, a few for erecting new apartments; however, also a few garages and gas stations (103-Shell at Oak/Santa Clara; 86 Webb/Park); a hospital (88 - 1433 Morton, Miramar; and reversion on 3/8/1922); 92 & 102 - Kindergarten by Lona Hazzard, 60, 82 - Maternity Hospital (1428 Oak (unknown); 1543 Everett (Tillie Baker)); 90 - a cement / stucco shop, 46, 48 - 1114 Chestnut St. shoe repair shop; 57 a candy factory (future Ms. Saylor's), 6/10/1921 - a grocery/delicatessen (Encinal/Pearl); 69 - a brick building for Listo Pencil Co.; 40 - a hydroplane maintenance facility.
