No. 18.50.1 Subject Categories: American Red Cross, World War 1 Date or Period: 1918 Object: Cabinet display Description: A shallow wooden flat display case that appears to be constructed of fir, and stained with varnish. It is topped by a movable frame containing clear glass. The bottom of the case is fabric-lined, and upon which is displayed medals and other objects related to World War I. Size: L-13 3/4 X W-22 x Depth: 3 3/4 inches. History of Object: A shadow box frame containing objects related to the Alameda Chapter of the American Red Cross, which was awarded to Mrs. Louise Bruce Stephens, wife of Dr. Barclay Stephens, for her outstanding service with the Alameda Chapter of the American Red Cross. The collection consists of two veils, one of which designates "Service in Production" and the other designates "Surgical Dressings''. Also included is an award metal consisting of a circular-shaped enamel pendant stating: "Service, American Red Cross" supported by a silk ribbon. Acquired from: Date: 09/08/18
