Object: Toy stove and paraphernalia
Description: A: cast iron toy stove, with elaborate scroll decoration at the top (fastened with one screw), two working doors, internal rotating rack, removable side shelf with in relief ‘American Jewel’, 6 round covers, 1 rectangular cover, and a cover lifter. Also includes the following matching cast iron objects: 2 pot lifters (B), 2 round lidless pots or buckets (C, one missing the handle), a frying pan (D, with in relief on the underside: ‘Worlds Fair Souvenir, Home Comfort Ranges, 1904, St. Louis’); a coal shuttle (E); roasting tray (F), pie forms (H: plain, I with cast letters: 'Best Homemade Pies'). A cardboard salt shaker (J) and an enamel blue-white speckle-ware sauce-pan complete the set (G).
All except J and G are painted gold on the outside; gold paint likely applied to hide rust. Inside of main body of A and underside of removable shelf are rusty. Underside of coal shuttle shows original black; back of stove shows some grey which may have been original.
No stove pipe.

Topping section height approx.: 8 1/2 inches.
Diameter pots approx. 2 to 2 1/2 inches.
History of Object: toy stove which was owned by Dorothy Alice Hagen (1910-2019), the grandmother of the donor, who had amassed an extensive collection of dolls and miniatures. The family moved to Alameda in the 1920s. It is unknown whether it was Alice’s as a child, or acquired later.
