History: The following collection of items originally belonged to Elizabeth Thomas of 1405 Caroline Street, Alameda. Miss. Thomas was a professional china painter who not only painted but fired her own work in a kiln that was located in the basement of the family home. The house served as her studio and residence. Extant examples of Miss. Thomas' work display skill, good color sense, and heavy use of gold for trim. Her work is unsigned. The Thomas family occupied 1405 Caroline Street from 1895 to 1981.
