Object: Fire Alarm Box
Description: Cast iron alarm box painted a deep red color. Serial number in black in gray number 1731, on the door. It has a projected panel on the door of the box, with a handle which says "Pull handle", and this exposes the alarm button. The top of the box has the gable. Within the gable is an insignia in raised lettering "Game Well" beside a clenched fist. The box is manufactured by the Gamewell Company, Newton, Mass. On the back side of the alarm box is a brass bell with an electrical attachment. Below this bell is wooden box with door on hinges. The whole unit is mounted on a wooden base.
An original key is attached to the top with a metal wire.
Size: It measures 18" in height and the iron box is five inches in depth and the wooden box and the bell mount are five inches in depth.
History of Object: An alarm box used by the Alameda Fire Department after 1924.
