Object: Fireman's helmet.
Description: Black colored hard leather helmet. In front it has a shield shaped emblem with (no inscription). The shield is held in place by a stamped brass eagle's head which is impressed with words: "CAIRNS & BROS. (manufacturers).
Size: 1 3/4" by 11 3/4" on the brim of hat.
History of Object: Helmet worn by the men of the early Fire Department of the city of Alameda.
