Description: Hanging match box fabricated from tin with lithograph transfer (black & yellow) stating "Finest Grades Coal, Wood-Coal-Feed, Phones-Alameda-9, Alameda-10, 2314 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, Calif." Reverse side pierced for hanging. Size, 5 1/4 inches in length, 1 3/4 inches in depth.

Following information from George F. Koerber, D.D.S (great grandson of George William Koerber): George William Koerber, German immigrant, walked across Isthmus of Panama in 1852. Started business in Alameda in 1870 after failure of business in San Jose. Died in 1904 of old age and living to high.
